We are a Professional Recording Studio we charge by the hour just like
your auto mechanic or plumber. We sell time. The amount of money
needed for a project varies. You can save a lot of money If you
are prepared when you come into a studio. Leave some room for
creativity, but be well rehearsed, with a realistic goal to achieve.
Recording is not cheap it takes alot of expensive equipment and time, not
to mention talented engineers and producers to make your project
a success. Beware of the studio that offers you a really low
rate. They may have some decent gear but its the EAR not the GEAR
that matters.. You always get what you pay for when you go cheap
. We have seen instances where people bring in tens of thousands of dollars
worth of guitars amps and drums and expect to get a slamming demo of 10 songs
on a $1000.00 dollar recording budget!!! Recording a demo is an investment in your
future. It's hard enoughout there. Without a first class product to showcase
your material you won't go very far. Of course the material must have merit as well.
We have found on an average it costs between $400.00-1000.00 per song
on average, for serious "demo" production. Of course there are exceptions
to this rule. An individul insturmentalist/vocalist could come
in and record 10 songs in 3 hours.
2.How much time do I need?
Another question that is up to you, and relative to how prepared you
are to come into the studio. If you have a band with five musicians
that all Know there parts (And Check Their Ego's At the Door), after
setup (1-3hours), basic tracking can be accomplished rather quickly.
When you get in to owerdubs and mixing usually the more time you spend
the better your end product will be.
3.What Kind of Music Does the Frontporch specialize in?
We specialize in RECORDING MUSIC. It would be hard to find a type or
style of music that we have not recorded, at one time or another We
do it all; Rock, Classical, Hip-Hop, Country R&B, Jazz, Music for movies
you name it.
3. Do you give Block Rates.
Yes we do. Block rates are available on projects that book more than 50 hours
of time. They are reserved for the serious musician that is putting
a major investment in their future.
